　　Nowadays, many parents send their children to various classes in the children’s spare time. These classes can be classified into two categories. First, on school subject, their intention is to reinforce and enrich the children’s knowledge acquired in school by means of more clarification and exercises. Second, classes to cultivate children’s interest, such as classes in English, dancing, etc.

　　現(xiàn)在，許多家長在孩子的業(yè)余時間把他們的孩子送到不同的培訓(xùn)班。這些培訓(xùn)班可以分為兩類。首先，在學(xué)校課程中，他們的目的'是通過更多的說明和練習(xí)來鞏固和豐富孩子們在學(xué)校學(xué)到的知識。二是培養(yǎng)孩子興趣的課程，如英語課、舞蹈課等。

　　Children’s attending classes in their spare time has become a controversial issue. Those who are for it think that the practice is good for the long term benefit of children and can enlighten children’s interest, broaden their horizon. Those who are against it hold the view that children have been deprived of their free time by attending classes they are not interested and thus become mechanical learners, at the price of their own interests.

　　孩子們在業(yè)余時間上課已經(jīng)成為一個有爭議的話題。那些贊成這種做法的人認(rèn)為，這種做法有利于兒童的長遠(yuǎn)利益，可以啟發(fā)孩子們的興趣，拓寬他們的視野。反對這種觀點(diǎn)的人認(rèn)為，孩子們被剝奪了自由的時間，因?yàn)樗麄儾桓信d趣，因此成為了機(jī)械學(xué)習(xí)者，以犧牲自己的利益為代價。

　　I think children should have the right to enjoy their childhood, and to play. But certain guidance by parents to attend some classes is necessary since the parents have reasoning power and experience to raise the children to be prepared for their future with persified interest and competence. But these classes should be refreshing and be able to attract children’s interest and not too much.

　　我認(rèn)為孩子們應(yīng)該有享受童年和玩耍的權(quán)利。但是去參加某些課程還是需要有家長的一些指導(dǎo)，因?yàn)楦改赣型评砟芰�和�?jīng)驗(yàn)，可以培養(yǎng)孩子們各種興趣和能力，為自己的將來做好準(zhǔn)備。但這些課程應(yīng)該讓人耳目一新，能夠吸引孩子們的興趣，而不是太多。

　　spring is no longer that shy girl in my memory, who came very late, hesitated in the distance, overwhelmed by shyness until i waved to her. then she would scurry happily nearer, stop feet away, waiting to be hugged. but here and now, she, at the sight of me, grabs my hands and pulls me into her arms before i know what＇s happening.

　　so here i am, a boy accustomed to the drab and dry and dreary spring of the north, devouring the sweetness of a south

　　it rained days ago and everything glistens with moisture.trees grow with new leaves of lively light green, not the dull and dusty color of winter. several cherries are in full blossom now, with flowers clustering and squeezing and squabbling on the twigs. what attract me most are the meadows, the greenish yellow meadows.

　　sprawling on the meadows with grasses kissing my face, i can hear the rustling of leaves in the brisk breeze, the whispering and chuckling and bickering of birds, and the trotting, shuffling, tramping of people passing by.

　　i can smell the refreshing fragrance that pervades the air,fragrance of flowering magnolias and growing grasses and moist soil. i inhale the fresh air as deeply as i can and the aroma in vades my whole being.

　　also, i can see the fallen leaves of platanes wafting around like butterflies flying from one flower to another. once so high above on the treetops enduring the trials of bitter cold and blustering gale, they are so easily torn loose by a warm breeze.why?

　　i cannot help thinking of our situation. we chinese defy any powerful enemy, but how come we have been so easily attacked by sars?

　　I read a piece of news recently。 It says that in Japan marly businessmen ave selling fresh air to customers。and now it is becoming more and more popular。 Why? --Fresh air is getting less and less in Japan， and so is it in the U。 S。 A。

　　In fact， environmental pollution is a very serious problem the whole world is facing。

　　it is mainly caused by the waste products released from artificial substances， industrial

　　production and increased consumption of goods。 Bedsides， the use of chemical substances

　　in agriculture also causes environmental pollution。Look at the sky， you can see that dense smoke is being released from the high and big chimneys; those dirty and poisonous substances are flowing into the rivers that we use for drinking water and millions of tons of waste products are heaping around us。

　　How to change this condition? More and more countries are trying to work out some effective means to bring it under control， but no great success has been made。

　　環(huán)境污染

　　最近我讀了一則消息說在日本，許多商人向顧客出售新鮮空氣，現(xiàn)在這種情況越演越烈。為什么呢? 因?yàn)樵谌毡拘迈r空氣越來越少，在美國也是如此。

　　事實(shí)上，環(huán)境污染是整個世界正在面臨的一個嚴(yán)重問題。這主要是由于人造物質(zhì)，工業(yè)生產(chǎn)過程當(dāng)中所產(chǎn)生的廢料以及消費(fèi)商品的增長造成的。另外，在農(nóng)業(yè)中使用化學(xué)物品也造成了環(huán)境污染�？纯刺炜�，你可以看到濃煙從高大的煙囪中釋放出來，這些臟而有毒的'物質(zhì)流入我們賴以飲水的河流，數(shù)百萬噸廢物正堆積在我們周圍。

　　怎樣改變這種狀況呢？越來越多的國家正在試圖擬定出一些有效措施控制環(huán)境污染，但至今成效不大。
